First and foremost to my TFF family, Thank you so much for the prayers. It makes me feel real good and lifts my spirits that so many of my follow TFF'ers have the heart and kindness to prayer for me.Let me share.

Im holding in there. My spirits are still high. My wife is taking double doses of Zanax to keep herself calm. She has too she has high blood pressure. H-e-l-l Im worried more about her then I am myself.

I start my first round of radiation and chemo starting on Monday. The radiation will probably not bother me as bad as the chemo.

Here is the story:

About a month ago I started to get real fatigued , slight headaches and a bad cough. After 3 days of having enough I went to the doctor to find out what I had. He listened to my lungs and didnt like what he heard in my right lung. He took x-rays of my lungs and told me that I had a mass in my right upper lung. The x-ray didnt gave an indication how large. He sent me over to have a CT scan. Then it was off to the lung doctor for the results of the CT scan. I forget the exact measurements of the tumor, its about the size of a baseball. Then he sent me out for a PET scan and off to a surgeon. After the surgeon went over the results of the PET scan he told me it was inoperable at this time due to the tumor pushing against my esophagus and the arteries in the same area. He said there isnt enough room between these areas to cut around. One of the good things he did say was it hasnt spread anywhere else in my body. Then is off to an oncologist to figure out what treatment I should have. Of course he wants to bring me to the brink of death to try and cure me with radiation and chemo. Then its off to have an MRI of my brain since the PET cant do the brain for some reason. Nothing in the brain at this time. Then its off to the radiologist for a consult on what the radiation treatments entail and to mark targets on my chest on where they are going to aim the beam for each treatment. Then its off to another surgeon to have a port put in my chest so they can pump the chemo into me and not have to stick a vein each treatment. I got out of surgery yesterday for the port install. It went well.
Now Im at the mercy of the doctors and this old technology of a treatment to help me live awhile longer. If this mass wasnt so large and my fear of it getting into my lymph nodes and possibly my brain I would be looking for other forms of treatment. My hope right now it that they can shrink it down enough so that the surgeon can get in there and cut out my right upper lobe of my lung. Of course with all this running around from one doctor to the next who knows how much the tumor has grown and if it has spread elsewhere. Its almost been a month and Im just starting treatment.

The type of cancer I have is non-small cell squamous. Google it and youll find out why you should quit smoking.

Prayers sent to the first guide I ever had. The spots you showed me on Lavon have always produced (just not in tournaments).
