Those are some awesome pictures. A funny story, one time I had to break off a line because it was stuck in heavy seaweed. Me and 3 friends drug it in to save the hook. Attached to the end was a huge jack cravelle. Like you said, we used it for shark bait and quickly caught a 6 foot black tip. I'm trying to get the pics from my friend.

ctfootball im from the corpus area your best bet right now would be the jetties. the seaweed gets bad this time of year but if you can fight the weeds you can still catch some fish but for the time your going to spend down there you would be better off to fish the jetties. good luck and let us know how the fish bit is down there.

I went surfing today and the waves were double to triple over head. That is about 10 feet. No lie. It was like tahiti. There was strong offshores making every wave extremely hollow. I bet the fishing was incredibly hard. WOuld like to know what you thought and did.

10'rs, I believe it, good day for some extreme yakkin! How was the weed? I'm planning on hitting PINS this weekend, maybe stay all weekend IF the waves calm down a bit.

Made it back from Big Shell. Had lots of fun but only caught a bunch of junk fish as I would call it. Caught 1 legal red, not trout, 1 spanish makeral(or at least that what I thik it was). Lots of ladyfishes, even caught a puffer fish. They were all caught at the jettis. The waves were too high on the surf. And the seaweed was also bad. But like I said I had lots of fun and only got drunk 3 times. Oh yea, I was only there for 3 nights. Will post some picutes if I could figure it out. Can anyone help?

Some buddies and I are thinking on making our first trip to PINS sometime soon. For the guys on here with much PINS expierence help me out. What would be the least ideal conditions to go in, wind, waves, ect.? Is there forecastable times when alot of seaweed is in or out? How far would you recommend we go down for our first trip to get some good fishing in? i assume you all use surf rods, how far do you all cast out, how do you all get your lines out? What type of bait do you take, live, dead?

I do alot of bay fishing and jettie fishing on my bay boat......I know these dumb questions but every post on here has been very informative. We want to take the trip to learn the ropes, trial and error. Would like for it to be less error, lol Yes we have 4x4's.

Id take surf rods and your regular bay rod. I set the surf rods out and fish for trout, red, spanish mack, or whatever while waiting for a big bite. This keeps you entertained. You know what to use on your bay fishing rod, it is pretty much the same depending on water clarity. FOr the surf rods, position one in every gut, first, second, and third. Then take one or two way out. I have caught sharks and other big fish as close as the first gut which is right near the waters edge. On PINS the water gets deep much quicker than further north. Use horse mullet, croaker, skipjack, stingray, whole crab, spanish mackeral, jack crevelle, or any other bloody smelly fish. I like to go down at least 20 miles but think the further down you go the better. Bring a yak or zodiac to take baits out. I dont like to fish rough conditions but have caught fish in them. My ideal conditions are: bit of cloud cover, 0-10 mph wind, surf glassy and calm but not completly flat. Seeweed is almost always a problem you just have to deal with it. Look for working birds and bait fish jumping.
