those look good, my problem is I have nowhere to store anything longer than 12feet. Might be worth buying his plans and adapting them to a 12 foot craft

Varnish is done and I am going to start rigging tomorrow. Took a few tries to get the varnish down without any bugs or too much dust but it finally worked out.

I think I am going to run the hatch straps a little different than normal. What do think?

I like the looks of the cross straps on the hatch.
Do you do anything different to protect the bottom of the kayak from hitting rock, concrete, etc....

Just two coats of graphite impregnated epoxy. Serves two purposes, first is once it is scuffed up it is as slick as snot and the second is it is a visual wear indicator. If you can see the wood hull through it it is time to recoat before you wear into the fiberglass (once a year or so is usually plenty).
