less bearings? wonder which bearings were changed to bushings. from my first glance, it seems they took a step backwards. imo, the curado is thier flagship- they shouldnt have changed anything besides the right side plate(frame with gear hanging down).

Man they just butchered the curado, nothing new about it other than less bearings and not made in Japan. On the bright side there is now a 6.5:1 gear ratio. I bet the gears from this model could be used in the E model, the reels look identical. I must say I am very dissapointed with what I am seeing with the curado. The chronarch looks good and is made in Japan, we'll see how it feels in the hand, also loving the 50 size in the chronarch although I am sure it won't live up to the chronarch 50mg.

I like what I see and am reading about the chronarchs. Also like shimanos new line ups of rods. Pretty neat.

From what I heard they (shimano) wanted to go down on the price to gain some of their market share back from the original curado days (129.99 i believe) I guess they went down in some quality too.. Im sure its a great reel but I will stick with my E7's for the time being..

the number of bearings really isn't all its made up to be!
There isn't that many contact points in a reel.

The new Chronarch is the Curado E, the Curado G and Citica G are just metal framed Caenans...
And the weight loss of the 200G vs. the 200E is a plastic dragstar and losing the bearings in the handle.
Consider me not impressed...get the Curado/Citica E's now...
I do applaud the gear ratio options, particularly in leftie.

There isn't that many contact points in a reel. I kinda feel the same way. I have several reels with less bearings than others I have that are just as smooth, and perform just as well.

Shimano is a gear company. That is what they are known for. They make some of the best gears for bikes. I don't think they need 7 bearing to compete with other reels with 7 bearings.
I thought the new line up was white and black, not green?

I like it. Like the price better too. May even try the new chronarchs out.
