Anyone use this side imaging graph? I was going to buy the 997C SI but this is practically the same unit but has a 7" screen instead of an 8".

I have one on the console and one at the bow both connected with an ethernet cable. I love the set up.

I think you'd be suprised how much better that 1 inch is as far as picture clarity.

I have the 898 and really like the unit, but I'd much rather have the bigger screen of the 998.

One of my fishing partners has used the 898 for a year now and He loves it. At the end of the day you will have to decide if the price difference is worth it to you. I think the 898 is plenty big... but then again I'm pretty tight on the pocket book....

Brian How do you like the 2 units connected? After using it is that an important feature?

Brian, i am debating on Hummingbird or Lowerance. Heard the Hummingbird is more user friendly, a bit easier to learn, your opinion?

I have an 898 and have no complaints. Of course ask anyone and they will tell you that a bigger screen is always better.

I went and looked at both of them and it is nice to have an extra inch on the screen...but is it worth $500? I'm a little tighter with my money than some people so for me its not. I just wanted to get some opinions of the unit from guys that are currently using them. Seems like everybody has had a good experience with them. I will most likely be sporting one in the next week or two.

I use to run Lowrance and nothing but. I have been off the water for a few years (not my choice) and still swayed heavily to the Lowrance corner until I used a Humminbird. Personally, I like the Humminbird now for various reasons. They have come a long way in the last few years. I think you would be happy with either. The Humminbird is easy to use, but I'm sure if you or I got use to the Lowrance's layout it would become second nature too. The 898 works for me but if you can afford it the bigger screens are very nice.

The one inch difference is alot bigger difference when it comes to the humminbirds. You have to remember your gonna lose an inch or more on the left side of the screen due to your readings being placed there. With the Lowrance you don't have this probably since the readings are at the bottom. Really wish Humminbird would make that change

I have had both. On my last boat has the 997 and on my 2011 I have the 898. For the savings the 898 works great. I do not see that big of a deal in the one inch. Just my 2 cents!
