Tuesday Morning, woke up and decided that my eyes where hurting and I couldn�t see myself going in to work. So call in and started packing to go fishing down at SLP .I didn�t get there til around 1030am not many people their and started setting up.. It looked very promising bait fish where jumping and the green line was in casting distance from the first sand bar. Put out there rods. About and hour later has a hook up. It was fun bring it in but disappointing when it came in to view (snot fish Mr. Gaftop). He was about 6 lb. Let him go too buggier up someone else�s icebox. Did a little wade fishing bait still around and still no hook up. This when on for�. Well til dark. But hey it�s a great day and the beach. Now the story gets better. About 20 mins after sunset (which was a great sun set to boot) I hear my penn have a short little zip. I walked to it to see if it was just the seaweed pulling on it. As I was reaching for the line� It went off. We play a little tug war on the beach with him winning most of the time keeping me on the wet side. But after about 15/20 mins . I got him on the dry side. 45inch bull red.
This is my first of the year and my biggest ever .

I will be going back on Monday.
But not as early.

Nice job on the bull red. My biggest was 45 as weel and it came from san luis pass. Were you fishing the surf or the actuall pass and if you where fishing the pass which side.

I was on the Galv side in the pass about 50 yards from the point. at low tide walked out to the second sand bar. ( which I would not be doing if the tide was moving) casted as far as I could. can't tell you how far it went cuz it was dark but it sounded like a far cast with a 12 foot ulgy stick.

Thanks for the tip are you going to be fishing down there at all the weekend. I am going to be in the area sat. night and all of sunday. I think I will start off at surf side beach that night and if i don't pick up anything head down to the pass sunday morning or around noon. What where you using for bait? I am going to pick up some blue crab in surf side and hope to catch some bull mullet in the surf.

I will be down there on monday sometime after 2pm. So I guess I will miss you and as for the bait. I was useing live 6 inch live mullet, I had two other rods out one with cut mullet and the other with half a crab... so when you have a buffet out there. they have to pick something they like.
