I'm not looking to catch a ton of fish -- just to get out, bank-fish, camp and relax. I've already found the one dollar park and fish place off of Trophy Club Drive on the creek arm. And as water temperatures rise I'd feel that a more open-bodied part of the lake would be better to suiting my "catching ability."

I'd also like to have access to a fire ring or outdoor grill and still enjoy fishing even if it is a "slow" day. I'd like to think since I'll be fishing weekdays the crowds would be sparse? Then again school is out and more families may be vacationing and have the same idea as I.

Any suggestions of where to go or where to "stay away" from? (No, I won't be drinking or perusing any illegal drugs!...The only thing I may be guilty of is eating my own bait, if it comes to that. But on the Texas coast, shrimp make mighty fine eating! Up here shad is palatable if one is destitute! And I aint that hungry! :-p )

This is a late reply but you can try Murrell park on the north side of Grapevine. It's free and there are covered picnic tables right by the water. I can't remember if they have fire rings. I went last Friday afternoon and it was pretty empty as far as people go. I saw a game warden and a cop, which was a good sign to me..

Let's just say the mosquitos were cooperating with the biting more than the fish were!
