Near the KYA sports complex by the equistrian center. My son plays ball over there and we practice 3 nights/week. I mentiond to my other son that we should bring our poles and go fish it to kill time. Anybody been over there and fished? Probably get some worms and some catfish bait. I've seen a few people over there but never stopped.

never been, but would like to hear how you do. there aren't too many great places in keller. bear creek is ok, but the fish are small. haven't tried woodland springs, but that is where my ex lives.

went last night. Brought catfish bait and worms. The turtles are brutal! Caught 4 on either worms or catfish bait. Good fights but they'll do a number on your hooks. Someone needs to do some pellet gun work out there!! Ended up w/ one small bass, tons of small perch, and 3 cats. Water looked really good. I'd think we could do OK if we had a little more time.

There are a few places in Keller to fish with some good LMB. Pond off Starnes and 377 (Capp Smith Park) is pretty good. Also try the park off Ray White and Shiver. (Its on Hawley). I take my son there all the time. Good luck!

Capp Smith is so low and nasty right now. The one of Ray White(Spray Park) is pretty good. Randomly met Squirrelman out there one evening with my Dad, they did pretty good.

Yes, the Spray Park(pond off Hawley) has LMB. Thats all Ive caught there. Two other ponds that are worth fishing in Keller are Bear Creek & the pond behind Keller Town Hall. I havent fished Bear Creek much but my Mom works for the city & Ive seen stocking report invoices for Town Hall pond that arent the same as on TPWD website. Pond is big & good shape. There is a local angler that fishes on the FLW tour & the city let him release some hogs in that pond. I've had days where I didnt even get a bite & then a day where I catch 7-8 in an hour. I've seen one over 7 in there last year. They bite good early fall & late spring. Theres no shade so the water is too hot right now.

Your dad was having a BLAST! Very cool! I've been back to that pond almost every day but been getting skunked in this 100 degree weather. Just cant figure out where they are at.

Yeah, it's been tough at that pond the past week or so. Caught a couple really early in the morning on a Chatterbait near the bridge. Bite has really slowed down though. Trying to get anything deeper in the middle of that pond and you'll be raking in salad.

Man the catfish are full of that stuff! Nasty mud and slop inside of their stomachs! I'll try more bass fishing next time to see how I do. Had an old man give us some hot dogs to try b/c he said those worked best but the turtles ate em up. Funny how when you show up at a city pond; things like that will work.

Haha, yeah...the turtles there are brutal. Have helped a lot of kids down there getting hooks out of turtle mouths. Lot of people down there catching them in nets too. With bass, I've had the best luck off the edges/points of the cattails....either very early or just before dark. Just too hot to be out there otherwise...especially if I bring my son.

Also, I noticed some pretty big green sunfish that seemed to be on beds right next to the bank. Are they getting ready to spawn soon?? Here is a pic...not the best, but you can see it just above what appears to be a bed, or the starting of one...They were all over the place, near the "dam" end of the pond.

It is a full moon so I am guessing it's time to spawn. I wish the water level was higher out there.

Went this morning around 7:00 with two poles made by Zebco. One was ready with hook and bobber. Put trout worm on and turned around for a minute to get the next one ready and looked at pond, the boober was already gone. I was planning on bluegill fishing, but pulled in a decent pond sized catfish. Rebaited, and the same thing. After catching three cats, moved to a different spot. The bluegill were definitely biting this morning. The ones I caught were fairly small, but some of them put up a fight. I switched between large Eagle Hook and small Mustad hook. I think I like the bigger hook better, because the gills were swallowing the smaller 2 hook.
Would post pics, but I am not 100% sure how yet.
Would recommend Bear Creek if you want to take a kid out fishing for some small bluegill or cats.
