The trip I had in the books for this Friday (July 8th) had to rescuduled. Friday morning is now available for anyone wanting to fish either Lewisville or Grapevine. Weather forcast looks great for anyone wanting to learn patterns and techniques for catching either blues or channel cats in the summer time. Call, PM or email me for more information. I could also do a shared trip if I can get three or four people interested in booking.

Lake Grapevine Fishing Guide Report - 7/7/11

Lucky 7 come 11 on this HOT July day! Had a great trip Thursday morning with repeat customers in the boat for their third trip this year. Summer time blue cats were on the agenda and the fish held up their end of the deal along with a few channel cats and several gar. The Father/Daughter duo put 31 blues and channel cats in the box and released one blue that was just under 10 lbs. Total was about 75 lbs of fish. Highlites of the trip were two blues reeled in that were stone cold dead. Had 2 rods that got smaller bites, but didn't appear to be hooked up. Reeled those in to check baits several minutes later and had 14 inch blues on both rods that were completely lifeless. These baits were off the deeper side of the boat sitting about 28 feet deep and obviously below the thermocline. Next exciting moment was a double catch. I had a bigger bait one a double-hook rig. The circle hook through the eye had a 3 lb. gar. The stinger hook off the back had a 14 inch channel cat. All fish caught on fresh shad with Dead Red Blood Spray anchored over deep water structure DURING THE DAY. You know your customers were satisfied when they leave a deposit for their next trip before leaving the lake. Great times, great company and great fishing! Here are a few photos of their catch.

Another hot day on the lake. Hit Lewisville this morning and the bite was on! Customers put 42 blues in the box in 5 hours of catching. Biggest one was about 6 lbs. Most in the 1-3 lb range. Fresh shad with Dead Red did the trick. I'll post some pics when I get a chance to get them off of my camera.

Taking the day off tomorrow. You guys be safe out there and be sure to drink plenty of liquids, where hats, plenty of sunblock and don't forget your pfd. I pulled a guy out of the water at the dock early this morning after catching bait. Somehow he missed that last step between the boat and the dock. Luckily it was a clean miss and no one got hurt. Could have been really bad if he hit his head, got a foot hung up and no one was around.

Lake Lewisville Fishing Guide Report - 7/9/11

I had a BLAST fishing with Karlton and his buddy Michael yesterday morning on Lewisville. They just wanted to go out, have a good time and catch a few fish. We were greated with a beautiful sunrise, a nice cool breeze and partly cloudy skies when we left the dock. Headed to our first stop. Graphed some good looking stuff, but the lake was a little too rough to set up there. Good thing we moved, because plan B was right on. I located a good school of fish, anchored up and tried to get all of the rods in the water. Everytime I'd get a rod baited, another blue cat was hitting the deck. The bite lasted for about 4 hours in that spot before the bait stealers moved in. We moved down a bit, got set up and put a few more fish in the box before heading back to the dock. Totals for their 5 hour trip included 41 blue cats up to 6 lbs., 1 lonely channel cat and 3 gar. All fish were caught on fresh shad with Dead Red Blood Spray from Team Catfish. We were anchored up using both Carolina and Santee-Cooper rigs.

I'll be enjoying some time with the family this week. You guys have fun and be safe out there. I still have plenty of dates available for August and booking trips for the fall as well. Don't miss out on some excellent summer time fishing! Here are some pictures from yesterday's trip:

Thanks guys. Just got back from a short trip down to the coast with the family. Had a great time, but didn't get to stay nearly as long as we wanted. Back to the heat here in the DFW area and back to chasing those catfish again. I still have some openings for August. Give me a call if you're looking to get into some summer time catfishing or book an instructional trip for either Lake Lewisville or Grapevine.

Lake Lewisville Fishing Guide Report - 7/17/11

Jim and his son Jake from Huntsville came up this direction to do a little catfishing with me on Lewisville. We enjoyed a great sunrise and got right into the action. First stop produced a few nice blues and a couple of hybrids. The action slowed down there a bit and we went looking for some more fish. I located some active fish and bait on the fish finder and got set up on our second spot. They quickly put a few more blues in the boat and the action died again. We played that same game the rest of the morning until they had 24 nice blues in the box. They wanted to grab a burger at Sneaky Pete's before heading in to clean fish. Low and behold we came across a HUGE school of sandbass busting the surface. We just couldn't pass up the temptation and I pulled out the slabbing rods. With 3 rods going between the two of them I was pretty busy. I'd take a fish off, pass the rod down and take a fish off from the other. This went on for about an hour until the heat caught up with everyone and stomachs were growling. The AC, burgers and ice cold Dr. Pepper and Sneaky Pete's hit the spot. Probably one of the funnest and most competetive father/son teams I've had in the boat. Lots of fun, ribbing and joking the entire time. The released the sandbass and hybrids. All of the sandbass were caught on 1 oz. slabs from Lucky's Lures. The blues were caught on fresh shad with Dead Red Blood Spray from Team Catfish. Here are some photos of their catch.
