I recently moved to Seabrook and am staying on a sailboat in a marina. Is it a bad idea to eat fish from this dark water inside the marina? What should I be fishing for this time of year, and what types of bait do they take? Ive seen a trout or two hoppin around a little after sunrise...

Thanks a lot guys

No, not really but ive got 2 spot lights that I can clip onto the dock and point into the water. Im on the very end of the dock since this one draws 6.5 feet.

Expect to catch specks, reds, blk. drum and sheephead, there are some real good areas around there for trout, throw those lights up you'll get some fish around them. If you need bait you may be able to pick up some live shrimp over at three amigos in the channel on the way out to the bay. put them under a cork about 3 feet down. There use to be a consumption ban on fish/shellfish out of Clear Lake due to the Brio Site in Friendswood but last time I called TPWD and the health Dept. they said consumption was ok.

How many watts of light should I have over the water? Is there a time window for night fishing? What about wind conditions, it seems to be quite windy tonight. I found this thing at the corner store called a double trout rig, its a neon squid looking thing with a worm in the center. Anyone have luck with these things? Hittin up walmart for some gear ) brb...

Lucky you...you should have private access to that channel that leads to the shipyard.
During the summer that thing is full of
all sorts of fish. We even caught a spanish mackerel there one day.

With all the rain we just had, I would expect you should be able to catch some channel cats by soaking fresh dead shrimp on the bottom, black and red drum too.

I have fished the general area many nights. I don’t think you can put to much light on the water. The more, the better. I have caught many fish just after turning the lights on, and have had nights without a bite. When the weather warms up a bit, you will notice a tremendous amount of bait fish under lights. Try getting a plastic shrimp lure called a DOA. The clear with a yellow tail always work fine for me. Just tie it on, cast out, and work a very slow retrieve. Good luck.

I'm probably going to head over to seabrook tomorrow to wade for specks.

Last week, fished specks for the first time and caught a 19" and 16" one.

I've seen some big channel cats come out of Clear Lake 45lbs. and up. If I remember correctly I think the BD Marina has a big HPS pointed out into the lake, let me know if it is still there. I have noticed alot of anglers behind my buddies house in Marina Del Sol, about 250 to 300 yards out on the edge of the channel, does anyone know what type of action they're getting into, they're out there all the time.

I havent done much wade fishing and its kinda chilly and too windy right now but I saw a guy pulling in flounder and specs on jigs near nasau bay a few weeks back. My neighbor said he likes to jig around in this lake behind seabrook marina, not sure if its considered private property or not though... Oh yeah there is also this stone wall that goes along a channel leaving seabrook marina it has like 20-30' depth, dunno if they get mad seeing anglers there "shrug"
