...because I'm done. laugh

tired, sun burnt, sore, poorer, etc... still had a great time on Lake Fork past 2 days. 14 hours on water yesterday and just 8 hours today. first time I've been without a guide, back of boat with my insurance agent. he hasn't fished Fork in many years, but is a good fisherman and knew some old good spots that are still good. kinda funny because a couple of our spots no one was touching even with all the traffic and others looked at us wondering why we were fishing there, but we caught fish.

overall it was just a huge grind. never found good numbers with only 25 total yesterday and 11 today. never found good size with only 3 bass at 4 something. most were solid unders. still a great time as usual when fishing nothing can be bad. few reports I've heard Fork fishing is a grind for most right now.

It was brutal outside yesterday. 108 in Glen Rose where I was bank fishing the Paluxy River. Caught a 4.5 and a 3.5 though. I'm glad I had a bunch of water with me or else I wouldn't have stuck it out long enough to catch either one of those fish.

Those are not bad numbers Rob, at least not the way Fork has fished lately. Low water, no grass and high temps are definitely changing the Fork game.
Most lakes you would feel good about boating 11 fish in a 8 hour run.

I can't do the Fork thing in the summer time, I would fish till about 12 then stay off the water till about 5 and come back. The middle of the day is brutal when the wind isn't blowing.

Rob,

You did good bud! It's good you have caught on to what I have showed you and are mastering those techniques. Somedays are a grind but the key is you stated after it, the biggest key right now is using your electronics and graphing, graphing & more graphing. You may graph one spot 5 times in a day and that 6th time you will locate bait and then fish close to or on the bottom, normally right near a 8-18" break, that's when you stop and put a quick whacking on em! You may catch 25 3 lbers and a few big bites 5-10lbs or get the mother load like KJ, Ken, Pake, Fouzman did the other night and load the boat with nothing but 4-8lbers!! Its all about putting the time in and you will end up getting rewarded in a big way!!

I spent three days on Sandlin and the heat is brutal. Drink fluids the day before, during and after. Stay Hydrated.

see Cody you spoiled me! I'm use to 50-70 fish days after the trips with you. laugh

I hear you on the graphing, Gary just had some old school depth and fish finder, but it still worked. After lunch yesterday we were heading back and stopped quickly to graph a random spot in 25-30 foot of water. Found a little ridge and there were fish on it off the bottom. Sure enough Gary pulled a 3 off of there and I missed a bite, that was it though.

Big key there!

Pre hydrate before a hot trip
Drink during, even if not thirsty
Drink when you get home, not beer, water & gatoraid!

Rob,

For some reason that common, some places will produce 2/3 quick then die off, that's when you limit yourself to ten more minutes and if you dint get bit, move on.

It is brutal, you might not believe me, but I was drinking out of 64 ounce Gatorade and 50 ounce water bottles. Never drink just Gatorade, but I believe you need some of the stuff in there verse just water. Friday I had one bottle of each (114 ounces) done by 1 PM and finished the other two (114 ounces) by end of day. That's 228 ounces over 15 hours and I still maybe only took a leak twice. I do require more water than most people, back when I raced Hotter n Hell I would drink about 18 ounces an hour and even after 4 hour race I would still lose about 8 pounds body weight.
