Good post. We all take it for granted sometimes how good we really have it. If the worst thing we have to worry about is a fellow fisherman encroaching on our spot we have it better off than about 95% of the world.

Got a story about my dad helping someone out. We were duck hunting up in Stuttgart and when we came in to the boat launch my dad noticed the trailer next to us had a flat tire, he kindly left a can of fix a flat and a note to with his cell on it in case the guys couldn't get it up and working. Never got a call but I was reading one of my hunting forums that I use to frequent quite often and a guy posted the story about how they had a horrible day duckhunting only to come out to a flat tire! They didn't have a spare but someone had left a can of fix a flat on the trailer for them....ended up hooking up with them for a few hunts and became friends. It's funny how life works sometimes. My dad taught me alot that day and when i asked him about it he simply replied "outdoorsmen look out for other outdoorsmen, never question it just do it".

Last summer we were fishing fork together and were slamming some good slots off a point, i looked up and saw a pontoon boat that was drifting in the wind and the two fellas were both looking at the motor with the cowling off. I turned and told dad we needed to go help and we did, towed them into their dock and they offered to pay us but of course we didn't accept it and told them to just pass it along.

Moral of the story....Dad's out there show your kids how to do it right in the outdoors and we will all be a lot better off smile

At the end of the day we are all just trying to get away and have a good time, no reason to get in a rush or lose your emotions on little things.

I don't know if I'm normal or not, but I occasionally get angry,....BUT I never go into 'ramp rage' or anything like that.
People have helped me, and I've helped others. But, I feel guilty sometimes because I always start out not trusting anybody.

Need to improve my LMB fishing, running out of time.

30 years ago I was on the way back from Possom Kingdom about 11pm at night with my 8 month pregnant wife. I broke down somewhere between Ft Worth and Mineral Wells on the side of the hiway out in the middle of nowhere.I decided to leave her in the truck which scared me to death and hike down the hiway to try and find help.Everthing was closed but I did find a pay phone.I couldn't get hold of anyone and began to call wrecker services. I was dead broke at the time and found a guy who was available and would come all the way out there and was the least expensive. He came all the way from Mesquite, towed me back to Dallas.I think he could tell I was young and scared and broke! I asked him what I owed him and he said..."don't worry about it". OMG...I was so shocked I didn't know what to do.I am pretty sure the old guy has passed on by now but I will never forget him.

This was Shapards Towing in Mesquite

moved to eagle mountain lake this weekend. Already met a bunch of nice folks. None of them are fishermen, doesn't seem many fishermen keep slips at the marina I'm at. (Eagle Mountain) which is too bad, I love sitting around chatting before or after a trip.

I got to be the good guy yesterday smile

I put my boat in at EM friday and spent a good amount of time putting around. Was out last night and heading down the breakwater back to my marina when I saw a pontoon just sort of drifting around out off the point with a family on it. I was going full speed and they started waving me down. I cut the throttle assuming they had kids in the water or something and were warning me. Well.. even after I slowed down they kept waving and shouting something. Killed the engine and I heard "GAS" heh. Pulled over and they were out of gas and floating so I towed em over to auggies and got em to the dock. Guy offered to pay me or whatever so I just told him I was glad I had the opportunity to help some one. He had a cute family. smile

Made the weekend for me and I immediately thought about this post so I figured I'd share.

Anyone else have any good positive interactions this weekend?

got another to share.

Was out sand bassin this weekend and the schools were light and scattered. I broke off from the boat show to look at some spots that looked promising. Came up to some fish but there was another boat basically in the middle of em. I kept my distance and tried to cast around him so I wasn't anywhere near where he was casting. the fish drifted south and we sort of followed each other as we went after them. After a while he got up and looked over, he was about to move back north. He tells us that the fish were following a river channel and they get about where we were then circle back up and start over.

He didn't have to share that, I'd have just assumed he was moving on and didn't know anything about that pattern but he was more than happy to volunteer the info. we followed him back up and got back on fish, kept our distances and gave a friendly wave when he finally packed up and took off.

Positive interactions, might not have been a black bass fishermen but it was still a good experience on the lake wink
