Thredas like this remind me that i need to remember how blessed I really am to have a boat and spend time at the lake. If my biggest gripe is a few extra minutes at the boat ramp then I am doing good. I don't always do a good job remembering that but I will keep trying.

U guys must have pretty pathetic lives if this is all you can find to cry about. Put your big girl panties on and quit crying. This is the dumbest topic i have ever seen on here. I read the forum everyday and this by far is the dumbest. Get out and help or shut up.

Not trying to be a jerk, but do all of you guys complaining follow the same rules while gassing up? I don't know how many times I've pulled in behind someone at the gas pump, watched them gas up the truck, pull forward, gas up the boat and then stroll inside to buy snacks\drinks\take a dump\whatever and not come back out for 10-15 mins. while blocking a gas pump (or two) and 40+ feet of parking lot while everyone tries to get around him.
Common sense is fairly uncommon these days and common courtesy is near non-existent.

By the way I have never seen a time limit posted anywhere on how long u have to unload your boat. As far as the game warden goes it isnt any of his business how long they took.

Im not sure I buy the whole inexperienced mess. I never backed an inch down a public ramp until I was sure I could do it proficiently. I practiced at the house. All the way from backing, to making sure the straps and and motor toter we off. It in my own personal opinion that if you can't get on the ramp and unload in a reasonable manner, you shouldnt be on there to begin with. Many of you will disagree and that is ok, but anyone with the money can buy a boat these days without ever being taught how to properly use the thing (Motor troubles are a different story).

I'm just surprised there was a game warden there. Ours don't usually get out that early. We have a lake patrol officer who works for the police department and used to be a game warden. He's super nice and really takes care of business. He patrols the ramps and parks next to them. I think having him there is a great idea. Just him being there keeps things moving at the ramp.

I'm convinced that there are lots of small people who enjoy making others wait,......on the ramp, at the ticket booth, at the checkout, at the gas pump, at the traffic light,....etc.
It's their free entertainment,....or their only form of controlling others,.....or something.
I do NOT launch my boat on weekends. And, I go to the grocery store, and gas pumps, at strange hours (no traffic times).
I'm pretty snappy about all of it, because I respect others' time.

I learned to back looking over my right shoulder thru the back window. Think I could have done it at 30 mph. Then I had to have 2 vertebrae in my neck fused and can't turn my head around that far now unless I turn my body almost all the way around.. Had to learn all over using just the mirrors. Gotten fairly good by now but it does take a little longer because I have to keep looking from one mirror to the other to make sure I'm not running over someone. Thru the back glass I could see 'the big picture' and felt more comfortable backing a little faster. I'm still off the ramp in less time than a lot of the younger folks I see though. Think it has more to do with how bad you want to get out of the way of others than ability.

I am going with 2 minutes being plenty if you have someone in the truck and boat.

5 minutes would be a eternity

I dont mind the novice guys that just need practice I will wait patiently on them. Its the guy starring in his own movie that does the following.
1) Pulls up backs down the ramp..THEN un-strapps it an puts the plug in etc.
2) Purposely goes slower just to be an A-hole and then works on his motor on the ramp while there is a line because he pays taxes and its "his" ramp too.
3) At the ramp I mainly use (66 on Hubbard) the A-hole that comes in the exit side and does a U turn basically cutting in front of all the guys in line.
4) The TOTAL A-hole screaming at his poor wife doing her best to back the boat down the ramp in a hury and in a busy line.
5) And most of all the guy that decides its cool to back his truck down the ramp and fish making a 3 lane boat ramp a 2 lane.
