Howdy Everyone,

I am looking to come down from College Station with some buddies to do some floundering. I plan on coming down in the middle of the front wed. morn. Now I have tried calling a couple bait shops down there that I had business cards from and cant seem to get any info. I am looking to be at Rollover pass at 6am and get bait somewhere, but I can't get a hold of anyone. Some help would be greatly appreciated. Phone numbers and bait shops would be great.

Are you planning on crossing the ferry over to Bolivar or coming in from High Island?

If coming from Galveston, pick your bait up at either Stingray Marina in Crystal Beach right before you get to Rollover. Coming in from High Island, then get it in Gilcrest as you come to Rollover or maybe even stopping in High Island and picking some up.

Good Luck!

was there over the weekend, north end bait and tackle had bait on west bay side of rollover pass, another place on the east gulf side also had bait, don't know their weekday hours though. northend bait and tackle has a website, could do a search for it. didn't do that good, it was too hot, should be much much better this week.

I would recommend picking up bait at galveston, before you cross the ferry to bolivar.

the one right off of the 61st street exit usually have plenty of live finger mullets.

I normally get bait at Uncle Bucks in Galveston off of 61st but I was trying not to head that way so as I could avoid the ferry.

The website is www.northendbaitandtackle.com, they should have bait now.

Crispin,

If you are headed to Gilchrist via the ferry, you will pass by Joe's Bait in Bolivar. He supplies most of the mud minnows, finger mullet, etc. to the bait shops on the peninsula. He sells them at a very reasonable price, and always gives you more than you pay for. I have one of his business cards, but it doesn't give the name of the street to turn off of, other than indicating it's a yellow flashing light. I'm pretty sure it's loop 108 that you take a left onto (It intersects highway 87) After turning onto it, take a right on the third street, which is Nelson. He's on the right works out of his residence. You can't miss it, he's got lots of ducks, geese, and other birds fenced in his yard. Address is 724 Nelson Rd -phone# (409) 684-8311. Good luck, I'll be down at Rollover the whole week of Thanksgiving fishing for flounder.
