What about the yahoo that is running late and now is going to be an azz because there is a long line at the ramp. Your lack of prep is not suddenly my emergency.

Getting the boat on and off the trailer is one thing and loading and unloading coolers and tackle on the ramp is something else. +1 I underdstand loading and unloading can be hard but please don't block the ramp while you load all your stuff

I ain't gonna lie, I've been the guy launching the boat and having issues starting the motor before... but I don't sit there and monkey with it! I get that puppy floating, drop the trolling motor, and clear the ramp! Then I can take all day to work on getting it to start. And before you say it, yes, there are times I couldn't get the motor started and had to load back up (after the ramp was clear) with just the trolling motor... not too big of a deal... just back the trailer in a little deeper, get the boat up there, hook up the nose, and winch it up.
Launching by myself takes a couple of minutes... launching with a partner is measured in seconds... and I'm no "super expert boater", I just get my stuff in the boat before I ever hit the line!
All that being said, I have held up one lane of a ramp for about 30 minutes, and I didn't like the feeling. My motor would not trim up. Turns out a pin had come loose and cut through my lines, but it was crushed under the motor and I couldn't see it. Several guys came to help me, got tools to unscrew the valve and release the hydraulic pressure, lift the motor up, etc. Them just standing around cussing me wouldn't have helped a whole lot! It's great those guys helped ya out, that's what I would do. More important than fishing to me I guess. Gotta remember too though not every boat at the ramp has a trolling motor and some of those big MF'ers can be difficult . It's like when you see a guy in a brand new 2wd pickup not able to get his boat out, usually someone goes and jumps on his bumper to help get it out, ya know. Getting pissed off about doesn't help, just means your pissed off when you go fishing lol.

Stress and Anxiety doesn't cause this 99.9% of the time. Waiting to unhook and prepare your boat does. It doesn't take a lot of brains to get your stuff in the boat and unhook it before you get on the ramp. The problem is rude people. I don't get mad because a guy is a bad backer and will usually jump out and help. There should be a fine for holding up a boat ramp to load your boat just like a fine for blocking traffic at a stop light while you text!
Retirement best job ever.

I always offer to help when I see someone loading or unloading by themselves and most times they accept the offer, some get mad like I am trying to hurry them but I am not doing that, I am just trying to help.

Obviously the less experienced you are, the longer it will take. But there is no excuse for not getting your boat ready before you're on the ramp.

fish by myself. Pretty fast to load and unload knowing I could hold the line up. every once in a while I wonder if I have ever loaded/unloaded. I just laugh at myself.

I think one thing several people are getting close to but still missing some of the points are the boaters experience. Y'all complain becuase the guy didn't have his boat unstrapped and loaded up. I remember the first time unloading a boat I didn't unstrap the thing from the trailer until I was almost at the water. It wasn't becuase I was being inconsiderate to other people. Honestly I thought the thing would slide off if I did to much moving or hit a bumb while it wasn't strapped down. It wasn't until I saw other people pulling their boats out of the water with nothing strapped on at all that I realized I could do it before I made it to the ramp. Also the guy moving stuff from his truck to the boat, yes I know that that may be pushing it, but everyone has their own personalities. You know maybe he forgot it or maybe he's not aware of the "unwriten rules everyone talks about" Maybe he thought that it wouldn't bother me so maybe everyone else want mind or he might of saw someone else do it this way so he thought that was the way to do it. Next time instead of waiting to get on the internet and ranting over someone who wont see the rant and know no better the next time, maybe you should of walked up to him and gave him a little advice or some pointers. If he listens than great you've made him possibly a better ramp person. If he gets mad just smile walk away and know you tried.

We all started ingorant and inexperienced. The way I fixed it is different than the way many inconsiderant idiots don't even try.

i can have my boat launched and truck parked in less than 2 mins. ive seen it all at the ramps. muscle man jack knifing and getting out to pick up his jet flea trailer to straighten every 5 feet, from having to knock out a dumb arse drunk while his wife was screaming at him. sometimes go to the dooley ramp on sat nights to watch the show. the drunken julio battles are funny...
