As I understand it a friend of a friend of mine purchased A brand new boat from hydro Sport Marine this past week and Sat. they were going under the bridge on 198 where they are tearing the old Bridge out and they hit an old column that they had just took the beams off of and the Column is 7 inches under the water level as of right now, It completely totaled the Boat and Motor So please be careful and happy Boating.

Good to know, I will stay clear. My wife got a "safety check" on the jet ski under the bridge Saturday. GW was watching for people blowing under the bridge. I taught her well, she didnt.

Just call Tarrant County Water and they are taking them down to the lake floor. The gentleman I spoke with said he would contact the contractor to see if they have any that are not all the way down yet. Little late for that ol boy.

From the Tyler TxDot field office; @Joe, no truth to the rumors. However the lake is more than 5 feet below normal depth, and that can cause underwater debris that is normally too deep to be a problem to rear its ugly head. As for the bridge demolition, it's being done in phases, with crews removing the deck, or driving surface, then the caps, which support the deck, and finally removing the columns. Crews are leaving the columns well above the water surface until they are cut down and removed. The columns are being cut down 12 inches below the lake bottom, so there isn't anything remaining of the column once it's removed. As an aside, TxDOT will be reducing the western-most bridge on SH 334 to one lane in the near future to repair the damaged portion of the bridge rail. More information here and on the Tyler District Twitter feed, @TYLPIO, as the work gets closer to happening.

I believe it's best to idle under bridges.
