I'm out here working for a few weeks and was curious as to if there were any bass in the lake. It looks good and is one of the few around here that actually has water in it.

I don't know if it does or not. I couldn't find anything on TPWD about it.

If it were me, I would make the venture over to Colorado City and hit up Lake Champion. I have heard some good reports coming out of there the past couple of years. If you do that, make sure you call ahead to make sure the gate is unlocked, or that you can get access to a key. They keep it locked up, but I'm not sure what the schedule is.

Also, Lake Sweetwater is just about an hour away (east), and it is known to have some good bass fishing.

There are a couple of guys here on the forum from Colorado City, maybe they will chime in and give you some more info.

I just checked TPWD for Moss Lake which is outside of Big Spring, and it says they stocked it last year with 97 adult Florida Largemouth. Might be worth driving over to and looking.

AS for big spring It does. I caught a 3.15 last week. It DOES have lmb, crappie, perch, and blues, yellows. The problem is finding structure. Dont waste your time at moss lake golden algae had that lake for years now. Champion is still good.

Nothing in Odessa, we used to go to Colorado City to fish, or down to San Angelo.

Common Sense has become so rare that it should be considered a super power

where is the state park in Big Spring,
there is a small lake at a city park right off 87. and yes it is full of bass but you really need a busterboat to fish it, shoreline access is limitted.

Interesting. working in Big Spring also for a couple more weeks. All I have with me are fly rods which stay behind my seat. I was not planning on fishing.

Problems I have had with motels seems every one is working here.

Im pretty sure that was the lake I had my first tournament with my dad when I was 10. Was a kid tournament from the bank. Good times.

Good luck getting a boat in at lake champion The ramp is only about 5ft in water and there is a 3ft drop off on the back of it. I have a very small boat and if the lake drops a foot more I will not be able to get it in at all Man do we need some rain bad. Good luck to all that are fishing be safe and god bless you all.
