Spent my spring break out on bastrop. Watermelon seed baby brushhogs do real well. I caught most of my fish on a white spinnerbait with a brush hog as a trailer. There was real good fishing right off the bank at south shore campground, near the boat ramp. Caught several 16-19 inch bass. Also, some big bluegill if you just want to fish a worm and bobber. Good luck. An old timer there said they'll hit anything green, if that helps.

I agree with Rowan, Bastrop is super Bass lake. Being in Austin, don't forget Decker, it's just as good. Have fun.
