 Bullred report port a 20-21 sept

Fished port a south jetty for bullreds wed. evening and thurs morning. Landed 3 bullreds 38, 39, & 42 inches. Fish were caught on outgoing tide on live finger mullet. Locals said drum run has not kicked in well yet and is in need of a good cool front. No other fish seen caught accept one small blacktip.

mullet were rigged on bottom with 4oz spider wieght

thanks for the info! one more thing....were you fishing in the surf or in the channel? im going to port a thursday and am going to try to hang into one of those big reds!

I fish the channel about halfway down the jetty. I use the large surf spinning reels spooled w/ 65# powerpro braid and about 50 yrds of 50# mono topshot for the stretch. Thats the best setup i have found, It gives me enough line if the red makes a good run in strong current, yet it is strong enough to get my tackled unsnagged. Fishing ought to be better after the weekend cool front.
