This doesn't have anything to do with sex...I just wanted to get somebody's attention. It's about the trash I'm seeing on the beach, and at parks...even the piers...are people just plain filthy? We make it a point to take our trash with us so we don't even use the public containers. It's not a great inconvenience..just takes a little discipline. We were on a pier just the other day and saw someone dumping their unused bait-shrimp into one of the trash cans...without making a total *** of myself, I approached them with the idea that the fish would appreciate the bait and we would appreciate not having to smell the stench of rotting shrimp in the trash can. They agreed, and didn't seem upset about the suggestion. My wife and I went down to the spillway pier one day last year and "policed" the area by the spillway gate....(unbelievably trashed!) We spent several hours cleaning it up...man, it felt great to look back at that all cleaned up. We came back by two days later...unbelievable! Every bit as trashed as two days before.

Oh well, I didn't mean to offend anyone. I'll get off my soapbox now. Thank you...I guess I better go catch a fish.

i hear you loud and clear.it is truly a shame at the stupid, trashy people who have no respect for nature.i to have taken it upon my self to clean up areas.it makes you feel good to do this just as it makes you feel like **** when you see an animal traped in plastic or fishing line.these people are on the level as poachers.

I totally agree with you Leonardo 100%. And that is exactly what I see alot at Roll Over Pass. People go there to fish and when you get there all you see is liter everywhere. I get so angry and discusgusted of the sight of trash everywhere. I always ask myself...why...why ...why do people do this? Can't they see what they are doing to our beaches and to every one's enjoyment of fishing around a dirty beach. I just don't get it. But then I also ask ..........why doesn't the state or someone of legal matters do something about this kind of ****? Does anyone know the answer to that question?

I TOO bring me rake, trash can liners and a pair of gloves each time I go to the beach to do my share of cleaning.

I wish there was some harder legalitites on people who liter!!!

Man may defy him...but Great and Good is our God!!!

I could not agree more. I take my Grandkids to the lake and we carry a bucket or trash bag and pick up trash. We make a game of it and they really enjoy it.

These people need to be held accountable somehow. It's really pitiful! Good on ya for making an effort! Truly frustrating to hear that it was trashed up again.

I was at San Luis Pass on Sunday morning and there were quite a few people camping under the bridge. I was horrified by how much trash was on the beach. It amazes me that the people who like to play in the water and fish are the same people who will litter. I was truly saddened...

I was in Galveston, on the 25-27th. We fished the biggest pier closest to the town of San Louis. We saw the same thing happen, but we were leaving. I asked the gentleman, if he might want to give the live bait to another one of the guys fishing. He just grinned, and nodded his head "yes" and said "no speaka engalish". He called a friend, or relative over, and he tried to communicate, but I could not speak Spanish, and he clearly did not speak English. I left a little frustrated, and thought of this as an isolated incident. The next night another group of people, ( one of which had caught an awesome bull red about 42 inches long )., Did the same thing. This time someone approached them and asked if they could BUY the live bait they were dumping out. The gentleman just shook his head "yes" and continued to pour the rest of the live bait out. I mentioned this to a fellow fisherman, who just happened to work there, and he said that happened ever day. I'm not prejudice in any way toward people who dont speak the English language, but that really ticked me off.

I have notived a lot of Mexicans (yes I said it) doing the dirty things but I've also seen Americans doing it as well. There does seem to be a huge gap in communication with the Mexicans--not just in words but in how we do things here.

I am not prejudicial either but I encounter a lot of that "smile and nod" type of English. So I learned a little Spanish. English or Spanish I still get the "smile and nod" or "no comprende" or the like. I think they just don't trust the natives?

Back to the litter issue: It erks me too. I commend those of you who clean up after others. I myself only clean up after myself and my family; if there is too much litter there already I will not stay. That is why I generally go to places that other people don't--away from the crowds. I'll gladly drive a little farther to enjoy my time better.

This issue had affected me personally before. One night I was fishing with some friends and the wife and we were grilling and drinking and having a great time. I got so drunk I left without cleaning up so went back the very next morning to get it. Someone had already cleaned it up. I felt terrible. From then on I've kept things more organized as far as where I keep my trash and putting things up when not using them.

Good post, but I think you could have at least posted a nice bikini picture! I make it a point to always take more than I brought. I am as guilty as any for littering in my younger years, but over a lifetime I want to know that I cleaned more than I trashed.

When I saw "sex on the beach" I thought one of you guys saw us last week at Port Aransas. The fishing was slow but the action was great.

Ragman.... we'll have to write your spanish quote:

"Puedo tener su cebo de pesca?", (Can I have your fishing bait), on a note and TAPE it to our tackle boxes or in our hats!

As far as the litering..... I've been south of the border and the best we can do is learn the spanish phrase for "Trashcans are everywhere, please put basura in the trashcans, NOT the beach".
