Went up to Montana for the last two weeks for work and got to do some fishing on the Beaverhead River near Dillon. Caught about five in all, lost probably as many. Caught on small(#20) Split Case PMD Emergers, Princes(#16), and Montana Nymphs(#12) using double droppers. The Beaverhead is a great river to fly fish and I look forward to going back next month again.

I ended up breaking my rod half way through the trip so I had to stop fishing right when I got them figured out. Oh well, TFO has a good warranty.

There are tons of big fish in this river they would line up about ten at a time and rest in the swirl created behind my legs when wading. I had a 22 inch rainbow bump my leg he got so close, they wouldn't touch a fly though. Also tons of fisherman there for the beginning of the season. Plenty of fish to go around though.

Beatiful place, Montana is...

The biggest was this 16 inch rainbow caught on the PMD nymph.

A nice Brown again on the PMD..

Another Brown this time on the Montana Nymph.

And another Brown this one on the Prince.

Snapped this of one right after I released it. Entered it in the Fish of the Month contest

Just the thought of cool weather up north sounds inviting. Those trout look tasty.
