Carolina rigs I hook them through tail
any other rigging hook through top just behind head

weightless carolina rig through the eye or tail. depends on which the fish respond to better.

When considering how much weight, you need to take into account how hard the tide is moving where you are fishing. If the current is moving pretty good and you dont have enough weight, it may just ride up at the surface.
