OK team, for those who are going to big shell or have been recently, lets keep this post going for the month. Red tide killed off thousands of fish, but the month of October can be awesome so I would like reports of this weekend as well as every time any of us go so we know what is up.

Good tips will be

What mile marker

Sharks

Are the reds running

sand and driving conditions

bait

surf

and any other fish or tips

Thanks guys and good luck in October. Hopefully red tide didn't screw it up for us.

I will be there for sure from 14-16 October. I will report back when I return. If you see a large Texas flag waving stop and say hi.

Just came back from the SurfCats tournament and the surf was awesome. Beach was clean, driving conditions were excellent, a friend of mine met us on Saturday in his Ford Taurus and we were camped at the 15 mile marker. Water was full of mullet and no seaweed or man of war. Plenty of redfish, the winner of the Sport category was a 42 inch bull red. The open category winner was a 95lb black tip shark.

WOW! We just got back and we got skunked! We drove down to Mile 15 and there were zero mullet. We tracked back to 8 and found mullet so we set up camp. At day break we caught Spianish mackrel and Skip Jack almost ever cast, and several whitting. We kept throwing mullet and live shrimp looking for reds but nothing. We riged up the whitting and skip jack and set 10 poles out to the 3rd sand bar. By Sunday Afternoon we had no hits for shark, and still no reds. Several flounder were in the surf at night, but the tide was rough and hard to get to them. Sting rays were everywhere and man of wars were light. Trash was thick o the beach but the water was clean. Sand was packed good down to the twenty. Going to the port A jetties on Tuesday so i hope the luck is better there.
