Hello all,
My family and freinds will be going down to Galveston at the end of the month to do some fishing. Would love to hear from the forum on some good places to go.
I understand the flounder and reds would be good by then. So any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

www.sanluispass.com There is always good fishing there. For trout use some lures like(texas trout killers a tandem rig white body chartruse tail. and a YoZuri 3D minnow 70 in clear.) you can get the TTK at academy and the YoZuri at cutrate(fishing Tackle Unlimited) off of Fuqua and I-45. Always get some live shrimp. Plenty of it. For the flounder carolina rig a larger shrimp, mud minnow, or a finger mullet on the bottom. For the reds and sharks, use a surf rod and reel, baited with cut mullet, cut shad, live finger mullet, live croaker, or ladyfish. You should have very good luck if the pier will be open. Should be. Go to the end of the pier for the big fish and set the lines out, have someone watch them while you go to the third light on the right side of the pier for trout. The last light on the right is always good too. You will see the most fish in the water when the tide is moving, so dont be dissapointed if the action doesnt kick on till late. Go at night. What kind of rod/reels do yall have?

Thanks Lucky for the very informative reply....
I have large spinning reels and a penn rod with heavy rod.
What type of tide would you recommend?
Low tide Hight tide or in between one of the two?
Thanks for the information.

The moving tide(change between the two) is great at San Luis Pass, as for about every place. Just go there and stay for awhile and wait for the changes. sometimes they last for a long time. Those reels should be good enough. with the live shrimp, i would suggest freelining them. That is where the only thing on your line is the hook and a live shrimp. Has produced almost everytime i have been there. Let me know when you are going for sure and I may be able to meet you up there.
Let me know if there is any other information that you need to know.

7-Oct-05 Fri 12:42a 1.6 L 3:56a 1.7 H 1:01p 0.2 L 10:18p 1.8 H Would you use the above tide chart to explain what you mean by "The moving tide(change between the two)"?
It would help to be more fritful in salt water fishing.

The gravitational pull between the sun and moon on the earths atmosphere creates creates tides and currents. Full / New moons create spring tides that mean higher high tides, lower low tides and faster currents. Opposite moon phases mean lower high tides, higher low tides and slower currents. The exaggerated full and new moons normally create better fishing conditions The fastest part of either tide is normally 2 hours before the high and 2 hours before the low. Most areas fish the best during this time period, but not all. The fastest of either is the falling tide; normally this is the better of the two. Moving water + structure = a compressed water flow. Compressed water flow + baitfish = predators. This is why when you look under the pier the pylons will have come predators feeding under it. Or any similar structure or hole. Predators will hide on the outside of the compressed waterflow and wait for the baitfish that are forced in it to pass. Keep in mind an outgoing and incoming tide are productive.... fishing into the current helps you present the bait in a natural flow to the fish..... fish face into the current.

Your information has been very educational. Thanks.

<The fastest part of either tide is normally 2 hours before the high and 2 hours before the low.>
Are the fastest parts 1) 11:01a and 2) 8:18p?
Second question- Assuming I can only go fishing for 10 hours on 7-Oct-05, When do I plan to be there? Based on what I understood, I should arrive at the pier at 11:01a. I know it is ery likely a wrong answer. Please help correct me.
