We went out today and caught a bunch of fish. I was throwing a T-Rig'd Wtm/red lizard and the fish kept swallowing it in the back of their throat...am i leaving it in too long before the hook set? Other than that we had an awesome day on the water today!!

Yes, it happens to me too.
Sometimes I dont feel anything on my line. But I see my line moving freely across water. I decide to set the hook, end up landing a small 1 lb LMB, but the hook is all the way in his/her gut.

Yea thats what I figured that i was just leaving it in too long before setting the hook... is the only thing you can do is just cut the hook?

Try a tungsten weight (a little expensive, but extremely sensitive), helps with the subtle strikers..

Happens to me all the time. I throw alot of weightless senkos and I can't feel anything. Usually hook em in the throat. Sometimes I can get it out sometimes I have to push the hook back through and cut the main hook and barb off, then it slides right out.

Switch to fluorocarbon line if you aren't already using it.

A wise man once told me "Fish don't have hands, if you feel him its in his mouth, set the hook"

when they say bullet weight they're refering to a "lead" bullet weight. Tungsten is the same thing except made of tungsten and not lead. Alot more sensitive.

Also try to keep less slack in your line if you can. I have found out this helps too.

If you do hook a fish in the throat you can keep from gutting them by sticking your pliers through the gills and popping the hook sideways. this will greatly reduce damage to the fish as opposed to pulling the hook straight out.

take the line cut it about a foot of it hanging out the mouth put the string through the gills and yank hard! This will tunic it around backwards and you just pull it straight out works Everytime
