788ci HD has the ethernet connectivity to network with other ethernet compatible humminbird units, the ethernet lets you network other hummingbird ethernet capable graphs without the need for the extra "network" box (cant remember what its called)

The HD model is the 2011 model year unit and can use the ethernet connection to share data with another ethernet capable unit.
The older models cannot.
If your unit does not have HD on the SD card door, it is not the HD 2011 model year.
