I would start with live mullett and if that didn't produce I'd cut them up. Red's can smell cut mullett for miles!

If you are gonna fish for Bulls at Jetties or passes, use mullet that weigh 1-2#, bend the head back and snap it off put your hook in the blood pocket where the head was, get it on the bottom and hang on! Ya need to chum too. Pogies work well, cut jackfish works well too. I found out by accident they also love fresh squid during the spawn. We netted some cuttlefish in a back bay and the Reds tore em up.

Would pay someone to catch me some cuttlefish for my tank. Yea reds are going crazy at SLP pier. Live mullet are the way to go. If not that cut shad works wonders also.
They don't call me Lucky for nothin'...

Live mullett or cut menhadden are the way to go. Mullett heads also work wonders. I usually use the mullet first and if that isnt working, menhadden always work!

piepuncher is very right...the ladyfish i used this past sunday produced 2 smaller sharks from the Bolivar beaches...small specks and ladyfish were everywhere...a shiny, bare hook in the water and the ladyfish would hit it...it was wild. fresh dead mullet is also not a bad idea, redfish like an easy meal
