Could somebody tell me exactly what this is? I have always heard of it, but just can't seem to wrap my mind around what it is exactly. Thanks

Well, the short version is you get a gig (pole w/ a spike on it, no barb for flounder) and a light such as a Qbeam or a lantern and you walk the flats/shallows very softly or pole a boat at night looking for flounder then when you see one you spear it with the gig... it is a blast once you get the hang of it and find some good spots

Flounder gigging is where you use bright lights at night and either by boat or walking in the shallows, spot the flounder on the bottom and use a "gig" (spear) to catch the flounder. Once you have the flounder pinned with the gig, either pick it up and put into cooler or use a stringer to capture the flounder.

Anybody else with any additional information?

man, sounds like a blast if you can find them, but for this area seems like the mosquitoes would be a pretty big battle.

Just lather up with skeeter spray. Try to get some that water-proof.

I'd be willing to try this one night, if some one who knew what they were doing would go along
