Recently, this past weekend they had 3 people drown in two different instances at Canyon Lake. They belive that one body may be hung up in the roots on the river bottom.
My question is with the new sonar and down imaging side scan stuff does any one think that someone could find a body with the technology? Do not mean to be gross just hoping for another use to assist the Game Wardens in finding some ones loved one.

Yes, side imaging has been used to recover items from the bottom of lakes/rivers. Seen an article and heard stories from Humminbird reps.

Side scan is being used by several Sheriff's Depts and TP&W to look for victims. User has to be really good at interpretation and unless these guys use one a lot fishing, I doubt they will be able to recognize what they are looking for.

I have seen instances where sheriffs depts use anglers at times to assist in the searches, because of the extensive practice and profienciency some have with the sonar. There is a husband/wife fishing team, that travel all over the country to help find drowning victims and other things.
COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

I think Texas EquuSearch uses that technology. There is an article now about a search they are doing on Canyon lake, most likely the one you mention. http://texasequusearch.org/

At least one of the u.s. coast guard lake patrol boats on C.C. has one & a while back I saw a show about lake patrols (I think it was lake Havasu) & they found a body using S.I. you could see the body pretty good.

Game Wardens here on CC have one they use to recover bodies. I've volunteered my boats before but never had a call to help.

We use them extensively for body recovery. I had to use mine Sunday to recover a body from Cypress Springs. Very valuable tool and has made things much better for all involved.
