Be aware that the mouth of Atkins is the roughest part of the lake on any given day. The rest of the lake cann be calm but becuase of the layout and bulk heading everything centers on the mouth of atkins.

There is a public launch at April Plaza Marina on 105 7 miles west of 45 if youre fishing south. If you want to be North of the bridge, there is a state launch on 1097 west of the lake or Stowaway on the northeast side of the lake, nice ramp and good store there.

Yup, that's Atkins. I try to get on the lake a couple of times a week if I'm not on the road. I'll be glad to hook up. I on the road until next week, but I'll pm yuo my number and we'll find some time soon.

fished from about 6-9 pm this evening, spent most of my time fishing some rocks, ended up with 3 keepers in the 2-3 lb range, with about 5 or 6 little 10" dinks thrown in, flipped a black and blue t-rigged crawfished in a few boat slips on the way in and caught a nice fish, roughly 6lbs. fish in the rocks were on blck/blue jig, blck/blue crwfsh, and white crankbait

Besides the Conroe Hazard Map which shows areas to be aware of - remember that the lake is about 3 foot low. I was out yesterday and running up towards West end of Atkins Creek and past the power lines going to the marina North and West the entrance is VERY SHALLOW. You will run aground if you do not pay attention.
Shallow water all over - just be aware of the color changes and depth changes as you move around.
Just thought I'd mention it...Have fun but be careful! fish

Here's a link to a good basic map that shows major boating hazards.
