Will hit a new all time low this year.It is just a shame that the power plant is still sucking out the water, and they could care less.

They will not raise the lake until they are done repairing the gates. They have been working on them for almost two years now and the eastimated date to be finished is spring of 2012.

as posted on Arrowhead resort page. Interesting factual?
3. Keep in mind that Lake Whitney originally was built for a level much lower than the current normal. What that means is that in some places there are ramps that "reappear" as the level goes down. True
4. The top 13 feet of water in this lake is managed by the Brazos River Authority. When the lake reaches 13 feet below normal, then the Corps regains control and usually no further water is let out. DID NOT KNOW THIS, INTERESTING

Managed isn't exactly the right term. It's more like owned, as is all of the water in all of the lakes up to conservation pool. Anything over conservation pool (flood waters) is basically unowned water. In most lakes, the water is owned by more than one entity, and those owners choose when and how the water gets used.
And one other point - there are basically two types of lakes. Water supply lakes and flood control lakes. The overall management strategy of a water supply lake is to keep it as full as possible to provide a water source, and the goal of a flood control lake is to keep it as empty as possible so it's available to catch flood waters. Most lakes are dual purpose, but they will have a primary function and are managed accordingly.

According to one of the Brazos River Authority Board Members, Whitney is not a water supply lake because it is too salty ... although they do like selling water to the well drillers... but, generally, I don't think they are too concerned about recreational use.... Those controlling Lake Whitney, IMO, are not elected officals, but gov'ment bureacrats... not much way to put any pressure on them to address the ramp issues. I do hope folks will keep us posted on the ramp status...

Lake Whitney is a Corp of Engineers project. The lakes under control of the BRA are PK, Granbury, Limestone and sometime around 2020 the new Allens Creek.
BTW armadilla, love those fishing reports. Whitney is a much better fishery than most people realize and your reports back that up.

I was fishing in Juniper Cove Marina last Sunday morning, and someone who works for the corp. was inside as well. he told me that they are only letting out water to the power plant. As for the gates,he said he wish it was higher, because it would be a lot better to work on them with the water level up some.He also told us about so much belongs to the corp, and just about what everyone else here has said.As far as the boat ramps, the old on @ juniper cove is OK if you do not have a really large boat. The owner just called me,and said there are NO more slips in the marina.Everyone who has them @ places like White Bluff, and uncle Gus has alraedy moved in,since Juniper Cove is the only deep water marina on the lake. By the way Armadillo, thanks so much for what you did,you sure helped me out in the Bohemian classic.I did pretty well. Caught a 5 lb. at Juniper cove, and a 3.5.

The only reason the lake this low is because they had to drop it 10 feet for the previously mentioned dam repair/restoration. If it were not for that it might only be 3-4 feet low, all the other lakes I fish in the area are within around 3 feet of conservation pool.
