Merc all the way! My buddy has a pro XS and I have ran it some. It has great mid range response and awesome top end!

I fished with a guide in Isla Morada Florida about 6 months ago for tarpon (didnt catch one). He had a small CC with a 140 Suzuki. When we went in for lunch there was a guide there with a new Merc ProXS. I asked my guide if he had the phone number to the guy with the Merc. He looked at me kinda funny and said Yeah, why?? I said, "Cuz when this Suzuki breaks down on us we will need someone to call to tow us in!"  I don't care who you are, that is funny!! I would loved to have been there to see the intial look on your guides face. LOL

Went from Merc to Rude, never had any issue with merc other than a couple lower units and some electrical issues, but I run my boats a lot.
2010 Rude had a lower unit replaced at 70 hours, no issues since.
Will say the Rude has more low & top power than any of the mercs I have ever ran.
In the end every boat motor over 90 HP has problems sometimes in their lives.

Went through two power heads and about five or six injectors, guess I lost count. Also couldn't keep the plugs from fouling for a long time although that part has gotten better.
