Hey folks, I have been tooling around the Guadalupe in New Braunfels, but have yet to paddle downstream of the IH35 crossing in my canoe. My wife would like to hit that strech of water a little bit this afternoon, but I was wondering if there are any good spots to put my canoe in the water further down into lake dunlap? Other than under IH35, I do not know of any place further downstream. Any ideas?

Schumann Beach Road ramp is the only other place to put in. Its $5 to use a private ramp. Type in 992 schumans beach rd, New Braunfels, TX to google maps and its on the right around there.

Weekends will be rough for a canoe due to heavy boat traffic. During the week can be hit or miss.

Thank you. Living in NB I know better than to get in the middle of the tuber/boater hades that is the weekend. If I do go fishing it is usually 6am-9am, and then back to the house.
I really appreciate the help, I'll bring my rods, wife and cash for a nice morning or evening.

Good luck. Down there the pads can work sometimes, but they are so overfished, your better to turn the opposite way and throw towards the middle of the lake and bring stuff up off any drop offs you can find.

That lake is less than 1 mile from my house....( I still have to drive 7 miles either way to launch, go figure) I pretty much save that lake for when the weather gets colder. Fish seem to wake up a bit, and its not as crazy. However, me and a friend just did a paddle from the i35 ramp down to Schumans beach. caught a couple, and had a good time. We were off the water before it got too bad though. Schumans is definately the way to go if you want to fish that lake. Just my opinion.
