Going down on wed and thurs. My friend has been several times and has the right truck. How is the fishing right now, and can we catch our own bait out there.

We were down around the 25MM on the 29th and were catching whiting like crazy on dead shrimp. Also caught two reds and 4 sharks on cut whiting.

me and 5 of my friends just got back from Big shell and caught 12 reds, 1 spanish mack, a million and one lady fishes and 1 puffer fish. Water was clean and no seaweed. We actually went all the way down to the 55mm marker and camped. Then drove to the jettis. If you can drive up the side of the dunes and get behind the jettis, you will have luck. We caught every redfish there. Good luck!

I was there last week wed-sat. It was pretty slow overall unless you were fishing for whiting. Our group caught a few atlantic sharpnose, all small. Some trout were hitting topwaters, but very few. There is lots of bait in the water. The water was beautiful clear. I even got the snorkels out.
