No wonder you've hated lake fork... 1 oar is your miogi???
Just so you know, there ARE fish in water deeper than the length of your fishing rod
"optimism" is going after mobey dick in a row boat and bringing the tarter sauce

I feel the same way and I live in Quitman. I have to force myself to turn West and NOT go to Winnsborro or Cypress/Sandlin. But I know it is all about time on the water. Good fish.
Glad to have taken..."the trash in the back!"

It's like anything in life, when you work for something, it means more. So true... I've had limited to fair success in my 4 trips (kind of depressing, only 4) to Lake Fork (3 bass right around 8#, incl my PB)...but I think I'm gonna have to find my 'miogi' (or hire a guide) to break that ever-elusive 10# barrier, I can relate Cruton, that lake can be tricky....btw, very nice fish!

This is a great post! I have lived and fished at Fork almost my entire life and have seen the ups and downs. The people who talk trash want the easy way out and don't see the potential or proof that Fork still shows. When TPWD gets the grass situation back in control the lake will come back full force and I will be the first one on the water hot on the trail of the next state record. Cruton and all these guys nailed it on the head... its a different kind of fishing that requires a different level of thought and intelligence and determination to catch these hawgs.

Congrats on your fish man.
True there are other lakes that are Easier to catch big ones on but like I have said before. When they put out 20 fish over SIXTEEN POUNDS call me and I'll go...

Spent the day down there yesterday (two hour drive for me). I feel your pain. First time I've been there in about ten years and boy was it intimidating! Couldn't belive how much timber was showing in the lake. With the help of all the great info here we managed to boat about a dozen fish with a couple of fives. Not exactly setting the world on fire but it was a lot better than the last time I went in the heat of summer. Special thanks to Skeeter2 and ezbassin for the help.
