Headed to Amistad this weekend to fish Sat-Tues. Never been there before, any suggestions regarding specific baits? I'm sure I can catch fish on a t-rig worm, but I'm looking for something unique to that lake, such as a specific swimbait, jig w/ a certain trailer, etc.

Also plan to use braid w/ a 5-6 ft leader. Will that work in water that clear?

Watermelon candy fluke in 1/4 ounce weighted hook. Large spook early on points and over grass if you find it. The drop shot is also good. Maximus worm in motor oil or watermelon red, use the T-rig or on the X-Lock.
For the line question, I have used flouro and a green copolymer. Both have worked fine for me and did not see much difference with these that I have tried. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Stop by and see Clem and Carl at the Anglers Lodge and at the Anglers Lodge Tackle store. they will get you going in the right direction with the right tackle.

fish points and drops. heavy football jig like wm or wm red. deep cranks. top waters and xraps early morning along with deadsticking flukes or senkos. smaller fish up shallow, bigger fish deep. let me say it again- DEEP, drop shot em.
if the wind is awful go launch at rough canyon. best of luck and have a blast.

+1. Went down in May and they helped me out a good bit. I had never been on the lake but after the weekend, I had a great time and caught a bunch of quality fish.
