went to medina Saterday ningt my depth finder was showing a lot of fish. after we droped the lights we could see a lot of whites but they would not eat my minnows.they would swim up to it a turn away after awhile i caught one on a small jig . i then drop a slab all the way to the bottom and was able to hookup a striper . then we drop a minnow all the down and caught another striper . I just don't know why the whites would not eat my minnows.they seemed to be feeding on other minnow in the area. Any ideas?

Was there possible some skeeter repellant on your hands when you hooked up the minners? They may have also noticed the hook or the line in the fishing light. Next time make sure yer hands are clean as possible, and try to catch some of the native minnows with a cast net or such. Try also changing to a clear line and a dark colored hook. That is, if you haven't done this already. If you are lip hooking your minnows, try back hooking them. Gives them more movement to entice with. Good Luck.

One other thought: if you were able to see the fish nosing your baits, then you were fishing in the circle of light, correct. My experience has been that the fish DO NOT like the lights. The zooplankton that the minnows feed on like the light, Not the fish. Try hanging your minnows under floats around the "twilight edge" of the light circle. The bright light makes them very skittish, but they have no problem rushing in from the dark to the semi-dark areas to grab a mouthful and run back. If using jigs or Roadrunners, work them in that same area. If your baits are in the bright circle, move them back out. Try different depths on the floats until you start getting bites. I am planning to hit Medina at night soon myself, do an all niter, and maybe I'll see you there.
