go to academy buy a wading belt it has everything you need on it

dont buy a cheap one... get a shimano or name brand belt they are @ $30-40

I have a shimano belt w/ pliers rod holder tackle pack stringer etc. had it over 6yrs

pretty much all you need unless you are using bait then you need a floating bait bucket, I usually only use lures when wade fishing( bass assassins, trout kilers, tout tails, gulp shrimp, curly tail flounder pounders, corkey products if you can find em)

Good Luck!

texas tackle factory has an excellent wading belt for about $33 at Academy...the deluxe something or other. it's got the tackle box, rod holder, belt, back support, stringer and everything. a good castaway rod with an abu reel is a pretty good combo for the price too

Thanks for all the pointer.

Hey, Saltwater_guy, the combo belt you mentioned is it at Academy or Texas tackle factory? Might go get myself one.

All these guys said it, but you may want to keep in mind when purchasing a rod and reel combo, make sure it is light enough to use for 4-6 hours. Allstar rods are fairly cheap about $30 at academy 7ft 1/4 oz to 3/4 oz, and a good reel. I like a baitcast, much lighter to use. I use shimano reels, For the money, it is an investment if you are serious about getting into wadefishing. Don't forget to get some good wadingboots.

I like the orange abu rocket 5500 in the surf
because it has bushings in stead of bearings.
I have it mounted on a 8' all star and get great
distance out of it.

Loose tolarances in the surf is good advice.
