Really? So if I pull up to a long point, that is MY point and no one else can fish it? You've got to be kidding me. What if someone were fishing a bridge? Is that bridge one persons bridge to be fishing up and down and no one else should approach them? Come on man, get a clue. It is a big lake, but 90% of the fish are in 10% of the water, and if someone is on one of the spots I like to fish and it's large enough for 2 boats to fish it, I will move in and fish as long as I can stay a reasonable distance away.

I agree, otherwise how about if you string buoys all across the entrance of a creek? Is it now YOUR creek for the day?? Silly. I respect others on the water and have moved on when other boats are on spots I want to fish but 100yards to have marked off all to yourself is stretching it in my opinion.

I agree with those that advocate common courtesy....If I get into a situation where its questionable....Just ask them
"Do you mind if I fish this direction"?

I have never been turned down......sometimes guys just want to be asked....What harm is there?.... and usually it sparks a good natured conversation anyway.

the direction the other boat has his bow pointed also tells me alot...pulling even 100 yards in front of someone who is fishing a bank for example, is pretty rude to me.....if you go to their stern and appropriate distance and ask .....never any problems.

Just treat others as you would have them treat you.....seems I heard that somewhere.....

If you stop and start fishing on a spot that already has a boat on it you look like a pot licker. Does not matter if you know the spot or not. You should have got there earlier. Move on.

snubnose.....ever been on Fork on a weekend with a tourney going on?

There are very few deep water spots that are going to be empty.

What is your point? Get there earlier. If you only have one spot to fish you knew that going in. Be the first one there and stay there.

if the other buoy was far enough away from him that you weren't really in 'his space' then he moved up on you while you were fishing, imo he was wrong :P

I can drop buoys all over the lake, it doesn't mean I get to 'claim' that spot and get annoyed when some one else is fishing where I wasnt, whether I put a marker there or not.

Its not just Fork. There are inconsiderate fisherman on just about every lake these days, and being there first doest seem to matter a bit. I was fishing a small spot a few evenings ago and another fellow bassfisherman came in and parked his boat right on top of where I had been casting. I told him that he was crowding me and he replied that he was more than 25' from me and that it would be alright. He was probably 30-35' from me and continiued to fish. Im sure he had the "its a public lake" attitude.

I am someone who uses buoys just to mark the end of Rd beds or intersections, I have dropped three buoys before in tournaments all I use them for is a ref point, so If someone pulls up on my buoy while im not on it, more power too him, and I do it some on fork, but they will leave cause im usually using it as a casting ref not a spot that has fish, If anyone fished the Skeeters owners tournament this year and was fishing the dam you prolly saw my buoys and let ya fish them as well. IMO If you drop a buoy and your not on it its fair game

Speak for yourself. I have never been on Fork.... Including the early '90s when all the public ramps had trailers parked to and down both sides of the highway that I couldn't find a spot without a boat on it.

you did the right thing. If you have more than one marker bouy and they are more than 40 yards apart your pushing your luck.
