I fished it and had a good day of fishing. I was happy that they let you trailer due to the wind, but I WASN'T HAPPY with the fact that they made you trailer in flights.

We didn't get to leave the ramp until 630am. That was approximately 40 minutes AFTER safe light!

That was ALOT of time lost to people that got to leave alot earlier!

Oh well, it was a fun day of fishing! Lots of good fish caught for a great cause!

We fished fork today and hit the right hole and fish were flying after shad (all day-thanks to the normal monsoon winds- and thank you powerpoles). Caught em on traps, chatterbaits, squarebill, swimjigs, diamondbacks, ole monsters. It was nuts. We stopped counting around 150, best day I ever had. All this in skinny water equals bad therapy on my sore thumb thumb Most fish were in the 3-7 foot range.

. We didn't get to leave until 6:45. Kinda bummed, but we pulled up on our first spot and a school of unders started chasing shad like crazy. Had a limit in about 20 min. I didn't care for the way they ended the thing. We were suppose to stop fishing at 3:15 and then return to weigh in. We came in early so we wouldn't be " those guys" and there were people still coming up at 4:15. Heard some rumblings from people in the crowds. I know these people did nothing wrong, just never fished a tourny like that. Overall I thought it was very well run and the beer and barbeque were great at weigh in. Look forward to next year.

Yeah me and ole wormman fished this event together...we had a pretty good day ourselves. Our best 5 slots would have went 26-27 lbs. I thought the tournament was fun and for a good cause. The leniency given on the weigh in was a little to "iffy" but oh well. We had the last flight and couldn't start until 6:45 and our weigh in was at 3:15. We could see one of our spots from the ramp we were going to launch from and had to stare at it for almost an hour. What was worse is that the fish were blowing up on shad the whole time.

I have never met Mark Pack personally but for the last month every time I have gone out to fish he has been on at least one of the spots I like to fish. I was glad to see him on all occasions...because that means I must be doing something right. lol

Oh...and before I forget...what are some of yalls thoughts on boats running on plane parallel with the bridges? I personally don't mind at all but apparently there was a couple of guys out there that do mind. Please share.

Six overs is a good tourney for sure. They were biting good all weekend for us but we weren't in the tourney. We had an over that went 8.80 around 8:45 yesterday morning on a c-rig in 12' of water. I was fishing with two of my long time buds that I haven't fishe dwith in years. It was a Hoot!

As far as running on plane parallel to the bridges: Where would you suggest I run on plane???

We had a great time. Weighed in 5 for 7 something.

Big thanks go out to Dillon, JC Outdoors, Oak Ridge, all the sponsors and the dude cooking the BBQ (I think his name was Slim).

I hope to be able to attend again next year.

I'm ok with running the bridges. We did it and if it is illegal someone please let me know and we won't do it again. Btw, we caught fish off of every bridge in 8-12 ft. Sometimes they were on the wind blow side sometimes they were on the side closest to the creek channel. No real pattern other than depth and bridges.

Well it is not illegal (yet) IT used to be legal to run under the bridges.
( with no-one there, no harm ,no foul) now you must idle under them whether someone is there or not.

That being said , the reason it was made illegal to run under the bridges is because someone ran on plane right by a tied up boat.
result? the guy under the bridge was killed (hit his head on the bridge)

Now if we run the bridges parallel, and no-one is under them , then no harm done.
If someone gets hurt/killed by a wake by the bridge(parallel to the bridge)
then that willl be a law ..
just think about your wake , and we wont have another law to try to prevent stupid.

Yes, we couldn't leave the ramp until 6:45. I lost over an hour of topwater bite. I watched the sun for a good while, and biting at the chomps. Fortunately a little cloud cover rolled in. We got to our spot at 7:00 and had our 5 best ones by 8:30-9:00. Caught a bunch of fish and had probably 4/5# and an 22.5"-8#. Pic included below. We still had a blast and after gas and entry fees made $50 a piece. So, I can't complain. Very good cause. I think there was around 120+ teams. Great turn out. Should have fish the JC outdoors also and got 4th place there. But just couldn't turn loose another $200.

Just curious, but at the Friday registration we were told you could be on the water whenever, but could only fish from the start and stop times on your boat# card. Nothing said about a specific weigh in time. We were boat #1 and had a 6:00AM start and a 2:30PM stop. Always wise to register very early to make sure you are in the first group. Thanks to Dillon, Mark and Oakridge for another great event. This makes 4 for me and looking forward to next year. fun event

Good point forkduc. I specifically asked about weigh in time when we registered on Friday and was told only the start and stop time. The only weigh-in info was that if we caught an over, we could come and weigh it in early to protect the fish. Unless I mis-understood, there was no specific weigh-in time, only start\stop fishing time. It did'nt matter for us, since we did'nt weigh in our massive bag of 3 fish\2 pounds!

I will register early next time. Was looking for a partner to fish it. Son, was gone to the river, took longer than usual. Not complaining, it was a great event. I will make sure of the 6:00 start next time.
