Yall guys are funny. Hardhead for bait??? Your probably better off fishing with no bait at all. Try those lures more often. Youll catch quality game fish and be able to cover more water.

Trout-Killer,
That was a refference as to the size of the little bait thieves I was inadverdantly catching. I don't use hardheads as bait. Sorry if that was unclear.
In fact I caught more of the little buggers today, and am gonna leave the beach alone for a bit as that's all i'm catching. I think i'm gona give the skyline drive area yall talked about a try. I also heard someone else locally talking about an area close by there. He said take the left onto skyline from the dike entrance, and I think he said park between the 2nd and third telephone pole and walk down to the water from there. That's probably not far from the place you mentioned SP9503. I'll have to ask the guy again As to the break ins i'll watch what I leave in my car. David.

You can also go out at the gazebo as it is easier to spot in the dark of early morning.
What part of GC are you in??

Any of you guys ever tested this?

SP9503,
I live in La Marque/Texas city.
I know where the gazeebo is, haven't fished there, thanks for tellin me about the spot. I have tried the derilict short pier a little ways down the dike once or twice last year at night.
I'm not doing any morning fishing. I'm an afternoon fisherman, and usualy crash around dawn. sometimes evenings if there's lights like one of the local piers in Galveston/TX City. Have fished the diversionary canal a few times, but caught only juvenile specs.
David.

Conditions have been ruff. The barometer has been steady in the good zone the past few days. I have to work this weekend.
I look to launch between 9-10 am wed and 5:30 am thurs.
Will be off again in the middle of next week
I think I want to try Half Moon Shoals.

Hey Dmiller, Mesquito island is the place to be. Me and TCD go all the way back to 1963, when my grand father introduced me to it. In the summer, you can catch fish at any time, but for the best trout fishing, go after them in the morning before they see the sun. As far as baits, just throw anything silver and shiney. Top water or diving. The trout are looking for shad. You can bank on it. Oh, there will be folks who say, I'm wrong, and dont know carp, I'll take them on any time... But anyway, get there early and fill your stringer...
