I'm having trouble locating nice 4-5" shad. Any help appreciated.

Join the club. I haven't been out in a few weeks because my boat has been in the shop but shad were as tough to find as ive seen on that lake. It may have changed but as of a few weeks ago your only chance of catching decent bait was early, early, early. You will have to beat the traffic to the boat ramp and throw under the lights. Wish I could help more but I just haven't been on the lake much, and the last time I was out all of my go to spots were not holding shad. I will be out sunday morning. Ill let you know where I find them. A few guys that fish more than I do have said that bait is much easier to find in the late afternoon right now.

Last time I was there we got shad along the cemented bridge abutment areas where the bridges start to come out from shore. Then around the first piling or two. The concrete goes down pretty far and made for easy castnetting without fouling your net. It was good until just after sun up also, which was nice.

I was out there last weekend and we caught all we wanted in the cove at fishermans point. Did better before the sun came up but still caught a few in the afternoon.
