What depth are you fishing? What bait? What size weight? I would suggest using a smaller bait such as french fry or a baby brushhog and a smaller hook like a 3/0. I also use at least a 3/4 or 1 oz egg weight.

Have you tried waiting a little longer after you feel the bite before you set the hook? I get too excited sometimes and set hook right away.

Bass fishing is like a 30,000 acre golf course with no flags and five holes you can't see- Tim

Nothing wrong with your set up...
Chances are if you are setting the hook and coming back with half a worm or none then they are very small bass or bluegill or sandies. You should rarely miss fish on a c-rig.
When a bass of any size takes the worm it feels so natural to them they normally swallow it and swim off in search of another meal.

Keep fishing it. Confidence will change this picture. Change to a smaller widegap hook and bait. Try a fluke. After feeling the bite feel for the fish giving it time to get the second bite on the bait. Then use your sweaping hook set.

Tie Mark Pack's point-up knot as well.

I agree with the bluegill/small bass theory. That is what is happening if you are coming up with half eaten plastics. You could wait a little longer to set the hook as well. I have found that you do miss some fish if you wait a second longer but they are generally smaller fish. Anything of size is going to stay on there long enough to give you time to set the hook.

I was missing fish too on my C-Rig and then I missed a couple on a Texas rig too. I like the convenience of the offset worm hooks, but began to wonder if that was the problem. I bought some straight shank hooks and don't seem to be missing as many now. I originally went to the offset hooks because I didn't like the way the worms were always sliding down. I solved that problem with Hitchhikers. Its a little copper coil that hooks in the eye and you "screw lock" the worm on it, kind of like you often see on swim bait hooks. It seems to have helped me.
