As promised, I have compiled a list of interested parties to see if we can get some fishing done. Please reply to all on this e-mail so we will all be on the same page. We need to update what we've got going on. I am planning a trip on Saturday the 14th. Considering Sunday as well. I am off Friday, so we could pull somethin then as well. I can fit 3 more comfortably. Anyone who has a boat is welcome to buddy up, and if you don't have a boat you're welcome to join me (up to 3 more). All I ask is some help on expenses. Boat typically costs about 225.00 to fill up, probably 30.00 for ice, BYOB or BYOW (whichever applies), and probably 50.00 for bait. WE WILL NOT NEED TO FILL THE BOAT! Is is almost full now, just ask that after the trip we can top her off and split the cost. I would say total with 3 additional persons we're looking at about 50 per person. I'm not a charter boat, and can' t guarantee fish, but with the knowledge contained on this list, chances are pretty good! I CAN,however, guarantee new friends and a good time. In addition to these trips, I'm tentatively planning the following:

4/20 - 4/23 - WAHOO-YAHOO (TFF)mentioned trips at this time with possible buddy boats. Again, not locked down for me, but definately a possibility!

May 11-14 - Have some friends coming down from Georgia, and will have room for 1 more at least. Good people who know how to fish and used to fish Destin with me a bit. Buddy boats welcome.

Any other date reccommendations are welcome. It looks like the first 2 trips will be out of Galveston or Freeport, and undecided on the May trip. If practical, we can meet in Austin and carpool with gas split. I look forward to getting some trips together and fighting the big ones. I will post on TFF to try to get the other e-mail addresses. PLEASE REPLY TO ALL WITH RESPONSES so we can keep track. Oh, yeah, real names would be good, too!

I also love to fish the oil rigs. My last trip was out of Port Aransas last August. The hot summer months are the best for offshore in small craft as the ocean tends to lay flatter. I have a 17.5' Seapro bayboat with a 90 Yamaha and it was fine as long as the ocean was smooth. We caught lots of snapper. Include me in your email list for this summer fishing. Ed in Austin

My first time out of Freeport and didn't fair to well. We only went out about 9 miles (fished the Wilma WK, George Vancouver Liberty WK, and a few platforms. Caught about a 40 lb shark and a snapper at Wilma, Tons of cats and some drums at Vancouver, and more cats at one of the rigs. Not all that great of a day, but a learning experience for new waters. It seems most of the stuff in State Waters is fished out with the Snapper season being closed farther out. I am anxious to get out on the 29th, and wanted to see the level of interest. Saterday was too windy so we never left the jetties. However on Sunday the water calmed down so we headed out from GYB, went about 30 miles out. First we tied up to a rig that was realy not producing any fish. So we saw a couple of shrimp boats not too far from us. So we caught up to the shrimp boats and started trolling. That was fun we caught lots of black tip sharks I had never caught any trolling before. They actually put up a nice fight jumping out of the water it was tons of fun.
I believe the fishing should start picking up pretty quick as the water warms every week.

I might be going this Saturday. Depends on the weather. Is anyone else? If I'm going out I'd like to buddy boat with someone. I should have room for one maybe 2.

I have been offshore a few times and know some good rigs. Problem is my freshwater boat is not saltwater worthy.

I have launched with friends out of Aransas Pass and the Colorado River. Launching from the Colorado River was the best as about 17 miles out is a huge lighted rig that is loaded with fish. I have also hit the reds at South Padre Island.

If someone has a rig and they can take me and buddy out, I promise we can all three cover cost @ 1/3 each. With the cost of gas, bait and food it would sure save some bucks.

My partner and I are polite and respectful anglers and will respect your rig and even help clean up after the trip.

If you are into freshwater, I fish Canyon Lake, Fayette, Bastrop, Dunlap, McQeeney, Placid etc... in the San Antonio area.

Oh, I am a STRAIGHT white male, married with children, and no hanky panky if you get my drift--LOL.

I 'm always interested in going out to the rigs. I just moved to Houston from Louisiana, so I haven't fished Texas very much. I have done a lot of rig fishing in Louisiana.
