Hey guy's I'm looking to take my 13yr son out before he goes back to school by Aug. 15th. Does any one know a good Charter boat to look at. Thinking of doing the 4 to 12 trip. This will be his first time on the big Sea's. Just trying to do the Father and Son thing.

Thanks Erek

You need to try Deep Sea Headquarters or Dolphin Docks. Only take the 12hr trip, the rest of the trips would be a waste of money/time. I would recommend you bringing your own rod/reel and bait. But you can still do good with their equipment. You can buy some cigar minnows before you go out on the trip to catch better fish. Check with the boats and ask if you can bring some live bait. I would suggest catching some piggy perch before hand by the dock with a little piece of shrimp on a small hook. That would help out big time. Make sure you both take some dramamine before you go out to not get sick. That would spoil the whole trip. Have fun!

Lucky I just set up the trip with Dolphin Docks for Aug.13. It is going to be a 9 hour Trip. I ask them if I could bring extra bait, like the Cigar minnows you where talking about. She said that they would have live bait and ribbon fish and squid and some other baits that I just can't remember right off hand. He goes back to School on the 15th of Aug, so this will be the last Vacation for he and I.

Thanks Erek

If they have that then it will be a good trip. I havent ever been on a 9hr. but i have never had any luck on anything under 12hr but ya never know! Hope he has a blast. Best thing a dad can do is take his son fishing. Wish I had a dad like that...

Do NOT rely on their bait!!

Bring some fresh never frozen ribbon fish just in case. They always list the baits they will have and on the trips I took it ended up being just sqid and then whatever bycatch was caught was chopped up for cutbait.

I outfished everyone 5 to 1 snapper fishing with fresh ribbon fish. That makes any fisherman happy.
