Headed to Falcon again and wanting to stay on south end. Anyone ever stay at the state park cabin with the ac and beds you take your own bedding with you? Just wanting to know what to expect and what to take that I haden't thought about. Stayed at Falcon Heights last time, not too bad.Just thought I might save a little money this time. $35 bucks at state park vs $50 at heights. Any help is appreciated. Thanks,Bee Team

You get a plywood bed - so you will need your own bedding, one of our guys only uses a sleeping bag or 2 . I used a single air mattress it fit just fine.

We were there in Feb when the cold front hit, so no need to use the AC unit.

We've found that we like the State parks better than staying in the motels.

here's what we take.

Grill, Microwave, Coffee pot. towel, flip flops (don't want foot fungus), pillow, air mattress, sleeping bag, food and drink.
folding sports chairs if you want to sit outside at night.

one guy in our group has a camping box that stays in his truck that has misc stuff in it. Plates, cups, paper towels, condiments, silverware, trash bags.

+ extension cord, power strip, and coffee pot. Only two electrical outlets inside and they are way up high. Only one outside is right beside the water spigot. eeks Good boat ramp.

If you stay in the cabins watch out for the rattlers, especially stepping out in the early morn or at night visiting the bathrooms ~

I stay both at the park and at Falcon Hts several times a year. Falcon Hts is worth the extra few bucks for the bathroom and beds vs. the community bath/wood bunks at the park. When Falcon Hts is booked, I'll go to the park.

One thing you might want to do if you do stay in the cabins, is take some petrolum jelly for the table legs where you have food on the table. Keep the ants from climbing up and getting in all your food. Worked for me. I was by myself so I stored food on the bunks too and guess what, the ants found the food on the bunks. I did not put anying on the legs because the beds touch the walls and no way to keep them off the beds... Good Luck

I have not seen any rattlers so far, but I know that they are there in the area.

Don't leave anything outside at night you don' want destroyed. I have wild pigs come into camp one night and foraged for about 30 minutes. Coyotes marked my tires just like a house dog. Had not seen that before.
