I got reservation for an 8-hour trip with Deepsea Headquarter on July 2. This will be my first fishing trip with a charter company. Any suggestions?

Talk to them about what YOU expect. Have fun.
Don't force it. Get a bigger hammer!

Take some Dramamine, just in case. Better safe than sorry. You don't want to be out there sick.

Are you going on a private charter or a party boat?
If you are on one of the party boats, the 8 hour will be drifting for Kings, Sharks, Ling.
It should be fun, but not very good eating fish to be caught on those short trips, except for Ling.
If on a private charter, tell them what you expect. You can tell them you want to bottom fish for Snaps or you can fish for Kings and the such.
Good luck and have fun.
Remember, if you get queasy don't go inside. Look at the horizon and don't think about being sick. Move to the front of the boat for fresh air if on a party boat.

As of last week DSH was bringing in Snapper/kings/ling and larger hammerheads. I was docking my boat right across from them all week. The do snapper fish on the 8 hour trip just talk with them the day before and see what the seas and their plans are. I have always like them and Dolphin Docks they put you on fish. You just have to catch them. I have never ever been skunked on any trip out of DSH or Dolphin Docks. Fish the front of the boat and if you have never gone out before stay away from the back of the boat you WILL get sick

Your better off with the 12 hour for eating fish. If you just want some pulles go the 8 hour. The bow of the boat bounces around a lot more than the stern and there is NO shade there.

use their bait- they know what the fish are eating. Pay half your tip up front, and they will take care of you a lot better. Just tell them- half now, half later. They are workin for tips, and if they know you have somethin for them- they put forth the effort. Let them know what you wanna cathc- table fare or somethin thats gonna pull your arms out of socket... ahhhhh cant wait till the QUatro Tuna trip..... somethin to pull your arms out of socket and good on the table as well........
