I have asked these questions on one of the other forums, but have not received any feedbac. Has anybody ran outside Padre Island from Port Aransas to Port Isabel. It is about 130 miles. How was the experience, and would you do it again. I have gone from Tampa to Key west (180 miles) several times. Great fun, but several places to look out for shallow water. What would be the best time of the year to do this?

Double K, saw that on the other post, I've never gone all the way from Port Aransas to SPI, but I've come close. As a rule the water is plenty deep offshore from outside the surf all the way out. No shallow bars, ridges anything to worry about. Now Dragging shrimp boats, rigs, floating trash, etc thats another story. As for when, summer or fall when the wind lays would be ideal for running. Spring is too windy as a rule, and winter can be nice but the winds can switch on quickly. However on the post-frontal days the cool weather and calm seas makes the run nice, if you like cool weather. I might suggest about 2 -5 miles out then parallel to the shore, and if it's a fishing trip hit all the rigs and shrimpers out there(after July 15th) looking for various pisces. House is lookng good, what's it about, 1000 sq.ft? How's the knee and the PT?

I went with a friend to ferry his bosses boat back to SPI from PA and it was pretty fun. Did it mid August a couple years ago. Took us longer than his boss thought it should, but who wants to make a speed run when you can fish. If you keep to the 2-5 mile out suggestion TOO made you'll have a good trip and can fish the boats and wrecks all the way down. I can give you some coordinates for SPI wrecks if you want them.
It doesn't matter how you find the pot of gold, all that matters is that you beat the leprachaun.

Thanks Too and Buzzbait1 the info is very valuable. Once I am settled in AP I hope to make the trip down there with the boat while my son and grandkids take the motorhome for a week of exploration of that area. That way we will have both a boat and play to stay. Too on your 2 questions, I went a little overboard with the house it is 2700 sq ft. As far as the knee it is doing OK but not great. Some infection is slowing me down but hopefully that will clear up soon.
