I have a 4 day trip planned at the Port A beach this weekend and plan on taking my 19ft Bowrider. If the weather forecasts are good I plan on heading offshore. I would like to follow someone out but appears hard to find someone. Anybody know what rigs or wreck sites the fish are biting at? My lowrance has several spots listed but trying not to waste the trip if we do go out. Anybody have advice or a couple nearby waypoints?

One easy to fish place is 5 (approx) miles off the jetties. Steer at 150 degrees and you will soon see two standpipes with boats trolling around them. Fish anywhere out there. Kings are biting well.

The short rigs were not too good last week, heading SE out of Port A, but we headed another 6 miles and found blue water and the kings were there. Hopefully they will move up shallower with cleaner water. Good luck

Is there anything I need to worry about at the Stand Pipes? There isn't any pipes just below the surface to hit is there? Also I read there is a exxon rig about 8 miles out or something like that. I might head out to that one as well. I hope the blue water is close. Any other advice?

Hey LCH, who ya all taking out? Your buddies been trying to get out there for a while now..........

The weather outlook looks very bad this weekend. 7 foot swells with over 20 mph winds.

Your bowrider may take a beating.

take a radio.........gonna be a tough one.

7 ft swells in a 19ft boat doesn't sound like my idea of fun..

Went out on Sat to the Stand pipes and caught my first kingfish. 2 and half feet long within 15 minutes of dropping line in the water. Shortly there after we pulled in a 3 and half footer and my brother then lost 3 in a row as we tried to get them in the boat. We were drift fishing with ribbon fish right around the rigs. I called my dad up to tell him about the fish and he suggested we try trolling. So we did and some *** drove right behind the boat catching our lines. The moron started to speed off knowing what he just did which then resulted in spooling out half our line before we could set the drags to cut the line. So what was shaping up to be a terrific trip forced us to head back in.

So far with only 3 hours of fishing we pulled in 2 kingfish and lost 3. Also enjoyed watching the boats next to use haul in there fish. Today coupled with our sunburns and too much wind we might not go back out. Tomorrow's weather is supposed to be good so hopefully I can land some more. Its fun listening to your line zing out.

LCH, sounds like an action packed trip. Would be nice to receive an invite sometime. Although would of been hard to keep my cool if my line was snapped by another boat. smile
