Went to Purtis Creek this pass weekend fished full day Fri and full day Sat and the crappie bite is on. We cleaned 71 crappie and 13 bream that were 10 inch or better and 9 cats between 2 to 5 lbs and plenty of throw backs.I had been told there were some very impressive crappie in this lake and it was no joke we landed several that were 3.5 to 4.0 lbs.

Were those fish measured on a tape and weighed on a certified scales? I worked in a marina for years. We found that if you halved the "eyeball" weight you got pretty close. That would place yours at 1.75-2 pounds. The lake record for white crappie is 2.84 pounds, and 2.09 for black crappie.

Went to Purtis a week ago..
used plastic swimmin minners (minnows), goldfish, minnows, topwater, rattletraps, spinnerbaits, crankbaits, plastic worms..

I caught 10-12, landed 7
Marshal caught 10-12, landed 6
Payton caught 6-7, landed 5

Caught almost all of them on goldfish and swimmin minners

I love that place!!

I had the same issue about loading photo. Someone had to teach me how to post my photos. Sound like you have fun and looking forward to your photo. Send PM if you need help.

Sorry to be a joy kill, but your weight estimates are way off. Here are the world records:

BLACK CRAPPIE
IGFA WORLD RECORD BLACK CRAPPIE = 4 lb. 8 oz.

WHITE CRAPPIE
IGFA WORLD RECORD WHITE CRAPPIE = 5 lb. 3 oz.
